Welcome To Robinho Online

Robson de Souza, Robinho as he is known as, was born on January 25, 1984
in São Vicente, Brazil.
Robinho (who has been dubbed by Brazilian legend Pele as "my successor")
is most effective when playing just behind the strikers and has a whole
host of tricks up his sleeve. Among Robinho’s strengths are his
attacking instincts, his speed, acceleration, agility, dribbling and
passing ability. Robinho is also widely considered to be one of the best
crossers of the ball in the world.
Throughout the early stage of his career, Robinho was often thought to
be too small to ever become one of the worlds greatest players. Robinho
has since learned to use his slight build to his advantage and has
become proficient at using and using his speed and intelligence to win
possession and set up a counter attack.
At the age of six, Robinho demonstrated an ability far beyond his years
earning him rave reviews from many Brazilian scouts and was labelled as
“one to watch”. In 1993, at the age of nine, he scored 73 goals in
indoor football with the Portuarios, a team which was proclaimed
vice-champions of Sao Paulo.
His tricks and his dribbling skills brought him the attention of the
elite Brazilian clubs and Robinho signed for Santos, which had
previously fielded the likes of Pelé, Pepe, Dorsal, Mengalvio, and
Coutinho in the sixties. He was soon warned that he risked getting his
leg broken if he humiliated older defenders – luckily for football fans,
Robinho took no heed and quickly made the pedalada, (step-over) his
trademark. Whilst wearing the famous white shirt of Santos Robinho won
his first accolade when he was proclaimed Under-17 Sao Paulo champion.
He signed professional terms at the club in 2002.
Whilst showcasing his exceptional talent at Santos he won his first
international cap for Brazil in their CONCACAF Gold Cup final defeat by
Mexico on July 13th, 2003.
Many of Europe’s top clubs began to look at Robinho, who attracted
interest from the likes of AC Milan, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and
Barcelona.
Santos however, were reluctant to let Robinho, their prized asset leave
the club, foreseeing a possible season of struggle without him.
